A journey of contrasts, from the misty limestone cliffs of Meghalaya to the fertile grass floodplains of Assam.
We spend three days in the wet, moss-covered forests of Cherrapunji before descending into the warm, alluvial plains of Kaziranga. In Kaziranga, we trade the rainforest for tall elephant grass. Mornings begin at dawn, sitting quietly on a wooden watchtower as a single-horned rhinoceros grazes through the rising river mist. Evenings are spent in a luxury forest lodge built from local bamboo, drinking Assam tea under a canopy of stars.
Route: Guwahati → Cherrapunji → Kaziranga.
