Northeast India landscape

Our
Story

How we began

Started by people who never left

Guide to Northeast began not as a business plan, but as a group of friends who grew up in Shillong, Guwahati, and Kohima, and grew tired of watching the region get flattened into a single line on someone else's itinerary.

We started by taking visiting friends to the places we actually loved — not the ones in the guidebooks, but the waterfall three villages past the last bus stop, the homestay run by someone's grandmother, the trail only locals knew existed. Word spread. What began as favors became a way of traveling we couldn't find anywhere else, so we built it ourselves.

Founding story
Our philosophy
We don’t sell trips. We design journeys shaped around who you are, not who else is going.

What we
Believe

Slow, not rushed
Every itinerary leaves room to linger. We'd rather you see less, deeply, than everything, briefly.
Local, always
Every guide, homestay, and driver we work with is from the region — not a franchise, not a script.
Honest, even when inconvenient
If somewhere isn't worth your time, we'll tell you. Our reputation matters more than any single booking.
