Guide to Northeast began not as a business plan, but as a group of friends who grew up in Shillong, Guwahati, and Kohima, and grew tired of watching the region get flattened into a single line on someone else's itinerary.
We started by taking visiting friends to the places we actually loved — not the ones in the guidebooks, but the waterfall three villages past the last bus stop, the homestay run by someone's grandmother, the trail only locals knew existed. Word spread. What began as favors became a way of traveling we couldn't find anywhere else, so we built it ourselves.
