These terms apply when you enquire about or book a trip through Guide to Northeast. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy and Cancellation & Refund Policy.
Who we are
Guide to Northeast designs and coordinates custom, privately guided trips across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim. We are a trip design and coordination service, not a fixed-package retailer: every itinerary on this site is a starting point, built and priced around you.
Enquiries and booking
Submitting a form on this site, or writing to us by email or WhatsApp, is an enquiry, not a booking. A trip is only confirmed once we've agreed a final itinerary and price with you directly and received the deposit or payment specified at that time. Pricing shown or discussed before that point is indicative and may change based on your final dates, group size and requirements.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about your group, including ages, health conditions or mobility needs relevant to the itinerary.
- Hold a valid passport, visa (for foreign nationals) and any permits your itinerary requires. Several parts of Northeast India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram, require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) or Protected Area Permit (PAP) for entry. We'll advise what's needed for your itinerary and can assist with the application, but the permit remains your legal responsibility to hold and carry.
- Arrange your own travel insurance. Given the terrain involved in many of our itineraries, we strongly recommend cover that includes trekking, high-altitude travel and trip cancellation.
- Follow the guidance of your guide or driver on-trip, particularly around safety in remote or high-altitude areas.
Third-party services
Trips we coordinate involve local guides, homestays, hotels, drivers and other independent service providers. We select these partners carefully, but they are not our employees, and their own terms and conditions may apply to the services they provide. Our responsibility is to coordinate your itinerary in good faith; we are not liable for acts, omissions or failures of independent third-party providers beyond what is required by law.
Changes to your itinerary
Northeast India's terrain and weather can require changes at short notice, road closures from landslides, flooding, or a local bandh (strike) affecting travel on a given day are not unusual, particularly in the monsoon months. Where this happens, your guide will adapt the itinerary as best possible in the interest of your safety and experience. We'll always try to keep you informed, but changes made for safety reasons are not something we can guarantee compensation for.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Guide to Northeast's liability for any claim relating to your trip is limited to the amount you paid us for that trip. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for events outside our reasonable control (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy for how this applies to cancellations).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Guwahati, Assam.
